Dominican Republic Supports Morocco’s Territorial Integrity
Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic issued a statement following a meeting between Dominican President Luis Abinader and Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates. During this meeting, President Abinader entrusted Bourita with conveying to His Majesty King Mohammed VI the Dominican Republic’s steadfast support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and its commitment to prioritizing the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla as part of its future expansion plans.
The statement clarified that President Abinader reiterated that the Dominican Republic “considers Morocco’s autonomy plan as the only solution to the Sahara conflict.”
During this meeting at the National Palace, held alongside the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Dominican Republic, Minister Bourita conveyed the congratulations and well wishes of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to President Abinader for success in his new term.
According to the statement, the minister also delivered an invitation from His Majesty King Mohammed VI for President Luis Abinader to undertake an official visit to Morocco to establish a framework for deepening bilateral relations in various fields.
The statement noted that President Abinader expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in all areas and his intent to visit Morocco in response to the invitation from His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
