A Destructive War Looms… Israel Announces Intention to Launch a Military Strike on Iran
The American news site “Axios” reported on Wednesday, citing Israeli officials, that Israel will deliver a “significant response” to the Iranian missile attack on Tuesday within days, which may target oil production facilities inside Iran and other strategic sites.
Iran stated on Wednesday that its missile attack on Israel has concluded unless further provocations occur.
Iran described the attack launched on Tuesday as defensive, targeting only Israeli military installations. The official Iranian news agency reported that three Israeli military bases were targeted.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted early on Wednesday on Platform X, saying: “Our operation is over unless the Israeli regime decides to call for more responses. In this case, our response will be harsher and stronger.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to retaliate, stating at the start of an emergency meeting of the political and security cabinet late Tuesday evening: “Iran made a grave mistake tonight, and it will pay the price.”
Washington stated it would work with its ally Israel to ensure that Iran faces “severe consequences” for the attack. Israel reported that Tehran launched more than 180 ballistic missiles during the assault.
Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israeli military, said in a video on Platform X that Israel activated its air defenses against the Iranian bombardment, and that “Israel and a U.S.-led defense coalition intercepted most of the missiles.” He added, “Iran’s attack is a severe and dangerous escalation.”
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard reported on Tuesday that Iranian forces used hypersonic “Fateh” missiles for the first time, adding that 90% of its missiles successfully hit their targets in Israel.
The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces stated in a statement carried by official media that any Israeli response to the missile attack would meet with “extensive destruction” of Israeli infrastructure and also vowed to target any regional assets of any Israeli ally that intervenes in the conflict.
