Akhannouch Promises Swift and Serious Implementation of the Royal Vision for Moroccans Abroad
Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch affirmed that the government, following royal directives, will work with the necessary seriousness and speed to implement the royal vision, ensuring coordination and alignment of responsibilities to meet the new needs of the Moroccan diaspora.
In his opening remarks at the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, Akhannouch highlighted the contents of King Mohammed VI’s speech on the occasion of the Green March anniversary. In the speech, His Majesty emphasized the important role of Moroccans residing abroad, like all segments of Moroccan society, in defending the legitimacy of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and the nation’s sacred values.
He also noted the King’s call for the government to initiate a transformation in managing the affairs of Moroccans living abroad by restructuring the institutional framework of the “Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad” and establishing the “Mohammedan Institution for Moroccans Residing Abroad.”
In this regard, Akhannouch announced that the first meeting with relevant ministries would be held today to discuss institutional and legal mechanisms for the optimal implementation of the royal instructions and to develop an action plan to structure institutions concerned with diaspora affairs in line with the royal vision.
Additionally, the Prime Minister emphasized that, in his speech, the King placed the responsibility on the United Nations to resolve the longstanding dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. The King highlighted the vast difference between “the real and legitimate world represented by Morocco in its Sahara” and the “frozen, unrealistic world represented by opponents of our territorial integrity.”
On this occasion, Aziz Akhannouch reiterated the government’s full mobilization across all sectors to continue defending the national cause, especially in this crucial period for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
