Blow to Barcelona Ahead of the Champions League Kickoff
Barcelona, who have had a perfect record in the first five matches of La Liga, lost their new midfielder Dani Olmo for a month due to a hamstring injury.
The Spanish international scored a goal on Sunday in his team’s 4-1 victory over Girona in the fifth round of the league before being substituted due to the injury.
A club statement mentioned that “the tests conducted on Monday morning revealed that Barcelona forward Dani Olmo has suffered an injury to his right hamstring,” adding that “he is expected to be out for four to five weeks.”
The former RB Leipzig player will miss Barcelona’s first two matches in the revamped UEFA Champions League against Monaco and Switzerland’s Young Boys, as well as several domestic league matches and Spain’s two matches—against Denmark and Serbia—in the UEFA Nations League early next month.
