Construction of the Largest Factory in Morocco with a $6.5 Billion Investment

In the city of Kenitra, work is underway on a project expected to be a game-changer for Morocco’s electric mobility sector, with an investment of 6.5 billion dollars (6,500 billion centimes). This project is the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East, further positioning Morocco as a leader in this advanced field.

The new factory, established by the Chinese-European Gotion Group, is known as a “Giga Factory.” It will be dedicated to manufacturing batteries for electric vehicles, aligning with the global shift toward clean energy.

Upon completion, the factory’s production capacity is expected to reach 100 gigawatt-hours, making it one of the largest battery plants in the world. This will place Morocco on the map of advanced countries in battery manufacturing and open new opportunities for the national economy in technology and renewable energy sectors.

Additionally, the factory is expected to create around 17,000 new jobs, boosting economic and social development in the region.

This project represents a significant step toward sustainability in Morocco’s transportation sector and reflects the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable innovation and technology, positioning Morocco as a model in the transition to a green economy.
