Dozens of Martyrs and Injured: Occupation Continues Massacres in Gaza and Displacement of Its Residents
Dozens of Palestinians were martyred and injured today, Saturday, in new massacres committed by the occupation, primarily concentrated in the central governorate, coinciding with the forced evacuation of residents of the Al-Maghazi camp and other areas in the central sector in preparation for launching a military operation.
Medical sources reported today that the occupation committed five massacres in the last 24 hours, resulting in 69 martyrs and 136 injuries. They indicated that several victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, rendering rescue and civil defense teams unable to reach them.
With this, the death toll in the sector since the start of the Israeli war on October 7 has risen to 40,074 martyrs, most of whom are children and women, in addition to 92,537 injured, with thousands of victims still trapped under the rubble.
Earlier today, medical sources reported that 17 Palestinians were martyred, including 15 from the same family, and others were injured in an Israeli strike that targeted a tin structure and a house near the entrance of Al-Zawida town on Salah Al-Din Street in the central sector. Search operations are still ongoing for missing persons and those trapped under the rubble.
Civil defense spokesperson in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, stated that the massacre of the Al-Ajla family in Al-Zawida resulted in an entire family being killed, including 9 children, their father, and 5 women, noting the “intensification of shelling and killing in the sector amid talks about reaching a deal.”
Six Palestinians, including two children, were also martyred, and others were injured in an Israeli strike that targeted a house west of Al-Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.
The eastern areas of Deir al-Balah also experienced heavy shelling and illumination bombings from warplanes, alongside intense gunfire from the encroaching armored vehicles in the Al-Jafrawiya area (east).
Israeli drones, specifically quadcopters, opened fire with their machine guns east of Al-Maghazi camp (central).
Intensified Bombing in the South
In the southern sector, Palestinians were martyred in an Israeli strike that targeted a horse-drawn cart in the Al-Zanah area east of Khan Younis. Additionally, another child (6 years old) was martyred after being shot in the head by a quadcopter while sleeping in his tent near Hamed city west of Khan Younis.
Occupation vehicles carried out intermittent shelling east and central of Rafah and Khan Younis, alongside gunfire from encroaching vehicles, helicopter gunships, and drones, destroying dozens of residential buildings west of Rafah city.
In Gaza City, intense artillery bombardment and gunfire from Israeli military vehicles continued in the Al-Sabra neighborhood south of the city. Three shells struck near Abu Shari’a Diwan south of the neighborhood, resulting in two injuries, according to medical sources.
Continued Forced Displacement
Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues its policy of forced displacement against Palestinians, as residents of Al-Maghazi refugee camp and other areas in central Gaza were ordered to evacuate their homes in preparation for an “immediate” military operation.
Evacuation orders, according to a statement from the Israeli army’s Arabic spokesperson Avichai Adraee, included blocks in the Al-Maghazi area and neighborhoods along Salah Al-Din Street, as well as the Al-Farouq and Al-Amal areas in the central sector. Adraee alleged that this action was due to the “continuous firing of rockets by Hamas and terrorist organizations from these areas.”
On Friday, the Israeli army reduced the area of the “humanitarian zone” crowded with hundreds of thousands of displaced people after calling for the evacuation of large parts of it to conduct a military operation.
On Tuesday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) stated that since October 7, the Israeli army had placed approximately 84% of the Gaza Strip under evacuation orders.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has waged a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in over 132,000 martyrs and injured, most of whom are children and women, and over 10,000 missing, completely ignoring the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and judgments from the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
