Hollywood Actors’ Union Reaches Agreement on AI Voice Replication
The Hollywood actors’ union announced on Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with the online talent-marketing platform “Narraitive.” This agreement allows actors to sell the rights to replicate their voices using artificial intelligence for advertisers.
With actors concerned about the potential for AI to infringe upon their rights, the new agreement aims to ensure they receive compensation from this technology and maintain control over the use of their replicated voices.
“Narraitive” connects advertisers, advertising agencies, and actors to create AI-generated voice ads. Under the deal, actors can set a price for licensing their voice to advertisers, provided it meets the union’s minimum wage for voice ads.
Brands will be required to obtain the actor’s consent for each advertisement that uses their digital voice replication.
