Libyan Military Source Denies Clashes with Algerian Border Guards
A Libyan military source denied reports of skirmishes between the Libyan National Army forces and the Algerian border guards. This denial came after a video circulated on Facebook platforms allegedly showing elements of the Libyan army at an Algerian border guard point. The source clarified in a statement to “Sky News Arabia” that the video is old, dating back to October 2023, and was filmed at the “Debdeb” border crossing between Libya and Algeria.
As part of security efforts, the media official of the Libyan military, Aqila Al-Saber, confirmed that the army has reinforced its units to secure the southwestern borders with Algeria and Niger. He pointed out that these rumors and the circulated video coincided with the army’s activity in securing borders and combating smuggling in the “Salvador Triangle” between Libya, Algeria, and Niger.
Al-Saber affirmed the continuation of army operations in securing the southern borders, with the deployment of desert patrols to comb vast areas of land, starting from the city of Ghat, passing through the border area of Isen and the Takhkhouri gate, reaching Inay and Telmessin, and up to Gate 45 in Al-Awaynat.
