Elements of the police in Marrakech succeeded, on the evening of Thursday, August 15th, in arresting a 38-year-old French citizen of Moroccan origin, on suspicion of involvement in a case related to dangerous driving under the influence of alcohol, causing a bodily traffic accident, and hit-and-run.
The suspect had crashed his car into several vehicles on a public street in Marrakech, injuring three motorcyclists and two pedestrians with varying degrees of severity. This criminal act was captured in a video published on social media, before he was surrounded by road users. The immediate intervention of the police resulted in his arrest while he was in an advanced state of intoxication.
The suspect has been placed under theoretical custody pending the judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to uncover all the circumstances and details of this case and to determine all the criminal acts attributed to the suspect.
