Moroccan Parties Support Arrest Warrants for “Netanyahu” and “Gallant,” Calling for Stronger Actions
Moroccan political parties have welcomed the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The warrants were issued based on evidence implicating the two leaders in committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza and Palestine in general.
In response, the General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) expressed significant satisfaction with the decision. The ICC cited “reasonable grounds to believe” that Netanyahu and Gallant committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, including “overseeing attacks on civilians in Gaza,” using “starvation as a weapon of war,” and engaging in other inhumane acts.
In a public statement, the PJD described the decision as “historic and unprecedented,” emphasizing that it represents a “legal and moral condemnation of the Israeli entity” and, by extension, of all Western countries that have supported and armed it. The statement reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate resistance against occupation. It also called for severing all ties and canceling agreements with the occupying entity, urging Morocco and all Arab and Islamic nations to seize this historic opportunity to end relations with Israel and its war criminals.
The PJD also urged nations worldwide to align themselves with justice and oppose the settler-colonial entity, which is now officially represented by war criminals wanted by international courts. The statement highlighted the importance of stopping aggression against the Palestinian people and ensuring their rights to self-determination and freedom.
Additionally, the PJD viewed the ICC decision as a triumph for international criminal justice despite the visible and hidden pressures faced by the court. It argued that the inclusion of top Israeli officials in the war criminals’ registry affirms that Israel is an occupying and oppressive force. The statement accused Israel of committing acts of genocide against Palestinians, emphasizing that their resistance and sacrifices have shattered Israel’s long-held immunity.
In a similar vein, the political bureau of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) expressed strong support for the ICC’s decision, calling on all nations, organizations, and conscientious individuals worldwide to firmly back the move. The PPS also stressed the urgency of its implementation without delay or evasion.
The PPS urged immediate protection for the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need to halt Israel’s ongoing atrocities and crimes against unarmed civilians. It called on the international community to take decisive actions, including freezing Israel’s membership in the United Nations, imposing severe sanctions, and ceasing all military, financial, and media support for the Israeli army. The party also advocated for commercial and economic boycotts against Israel and an end to all forms of normalization and cooperation with a regime led by war criminals.
The PPS concluded by calling for an end to the genocide in Palestine, the aggression in Lebanon, and the recognition of all legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, as well as respect for Lebanese sovereignty.
