Mutual Strikes on the Lebanese-Israeli Border

Hezbollah in Lebanon announced a series of attacks on Israeli positions along Lebanon’s southern border, including the Shebaa Farms and the occupied Kfar Shouba Hills. The group claimed to have targeted Israeli soldiers at several locations, such as Metula, Mount Neder, and Birya Forest, asserting direct hits.

In response, Israeli forces launched air and artillery strikes on various areas in southern Lebanon. These strikes targeted the vicinity of several towns, including Zibqin, Majdal Zun, Tyre Harfa, Al-Jabeen, Yaroun, and Naqoura. Israeli artillery also shelled other areas such as Shebaa, Kfar Shouba, and Adaisseh.

Israel reported that a shell landed in one of the border settlements with Lebanon, noting that most other shells did not cross the border. The Israeli occupation army confirmed that it attacked several Hezbollah launching platforms in southern Lebanon.

In a related context, the Israeli army announced the completion of a joint maneuver with police forces and other security agencies as part of preparations for a comprehensive war and raising readiness on the northern front.

The exchange of shelling between the two sides has continued since October 8, 2023, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries, mostly on the Lebanese side. Lebanese and Palestinian factions link the cessation of shelling to Israel ending the war on the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, and has caused severe human casualties.
