Over Two Tons of Hashish Seized Near Tenerife Thanks to Moroccan Intelligence

Madrid – The Spanish Civil Guard announced on Thursday the seizure of more than two tons of hashish, following precise intelligence provided by Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST). The operation took place off the northern coast of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands.
Coordinated Operation Against Drug Trafficking
The joint operation was conducted after the Spanish Civil Guard was alerted by the DGST about the imminent arrival of a vessel carrying a large quantity of hashish destined for Spanish shores.
According to an official statement from the Spanish Civil Guard, the raid resulted in the seizure of 53 drug bundles, with a total weight of 2,075 kilograms. Authorities also arrested six individuals who were caught red-handed while unloading the shipment on the coast of Garachico.
Seized Items and Legal Proceedings
The operation also led to the confiscation of five mobile phones and various documents that may be linked to the smuggling network.
The detainees are currently under investigation for offenses related to public health violations and their affiliation with an organized criminal group.
This successful interception highlights the strong collaboration between Moroccan and Spanish security forces in combating transnational drug trafficking and reinforcing border security efforts in the Mediterranean and Atlantic regions.
