Selection of a New Prime Minister for France: President Macron Aims for a Swift Decision

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his desire to quickly find a new Prime Minister following consultations with political parties and various state figures since last Friday.

Speaking to journalists in Belgrade, where he is on an official visit, Macron stated, “I will speak to the French people at the appropriate time and in the right setting.” He added, “Believe me, I am doing my utmost, day and night, and have been working on this for weeks, even if you do not see it happening, to reach the best solution for the country.”

According to French media, which have been speculating on potential candidates for the Prime Minister role for several days, it is likely that the appointment will be made on Sunday, September 1, the day before the start of the school year.

It is worth noting that Macron began consultations with political parties and various state figures last Friday to appoint a new Prime Minister following the legislative elections held on July 7. The elections resulted in an unprecedented situation in the country, with no coalition able to secure a majority in the National Assembly, a first in the history of the Fifth Republic.

This new political landscape has made it challenging to swiftly choose a Prime Minister and form a new government.
