Spanish Strawberry Producers Demand Tariffs on Moroccan Exports
The “Freshuelva” association of strawberry producers and exporters in Huelva has called on the European Union to impose tariffs on Moroccan strawberry imports due to the increased quantities being imported, which threaten the competitiveness of Spanish producers.
According to the Spanish newspaper La Razón, strawberry producers in the region have expressed growing concerns about the rising imports from Morocco, noting that this is not the first time Moroccan products have been criticized.
Morocco has experienced a significant increase in strawberry production in recent years, despite the country’s water crisis, establishing itself as a major player in European markets and causing discontent among Spanish producers.
