Voting Hours Extended in Trump-Supporting Pennsylvania County Due to Technical Malfunction in Voting Machines

A Pennsylvania court has approved an extension of voting hours in a county known for its strong support for former President Donald Trump, after a technical malfunction in voting machines disrupted the voting process. As a result, polling stations will remain open for an additional two hours, until 10 p.m. local time, instead of the original closing time of 8 p.m.

This extension is a significant opportunity in a county that showed overwhelming support for Trump in the 2020 election, where he received 70% of the votes compared to 30% for his then-opponent Joe Biden. The decision is particularly important given that Pennsylvania is a swing state that could play a decisive role in determining the winner of the current presidential race between Trump and his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

The technical issue was identified by the local election board, which explained in an official statement that the problem was due to a software glitch in the electronic voting machines, preventing the proper scanning of completed ballots. As a result of this issue, the Cambria County Court of Common Pleas intervened and issued an order to extend voting hours.

In this regard, Michael Whatley, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, commented on the issue, saying, “This morning’s ballot processing issues in Cambria led to delays – which is simply unacceptable.” Whatley emphasized that the Republican legal team quickly intervened to request an extension of the voting hours, ensuring that voters have a full opportunity to participate and cast their ballots.

This extension underscores the importance of every vote in swing states and reflects the readiness of Trump’s legal team to ensure that the voting process is not affected by any technical issues.
