WhatsApp Launches Long-Awaited New Update
The instant messaging platform “WhatsApp” announced the launch of a new update that allows users to add filters or hide their backgrounds during video calls.
The platform stated in a press release that this update aims to make video calls “more attractive” and add a more personalized touch, with the goal of “maintaining the privacy of the surroundings and giving a more organized and elegant appearance.”
The update includes 10 different backgrounds, such as a living room, office, café, beach, sunset, and forest. It also offers 10 additional filters, including warm, cool, black and white, fisheye, and classic TV.
The update provides custom options for low light conditions and features an “image enhancement” option that smooths skin and makes other adjustments, aiming to “give users greater confidence and comfort and naturally enhance the appearance and lighting of their surroundings.”
According to the same source, these new features can be used in both one-on-one and group calls by activating the icon at the top of the screen, which displays a list of available backgrounds and filters.
