Massive Fire at Plastic Factory in Sfax Causes Significant Loss of Life
A massive fire broke out at a plastic factory located on the Km 11 Gremda road in Sfax today, Saturday, August 17, 2024, covering the area with thick columns of smoke.
Civil protection units are currently working to control the flames, utilizing six fire trucks, with an additional three trucks deployed from the Hancha, Mahres, and Bir Ali delegations. No additional details about the cause of the fire are available at this time.
Over the past 24 hours, civil protection units have conducted 486 interventions, including 19 fatalities and 410 injuries, according to a statement released today by the civil protection spokesperson.
These interventions are primarily divided among 59 firefighting operations, 149 road rescue and assistance interventions, and 268 non-traffic incident emergency interventions.
