With Continued Rain, Warnings of Dangerous Floods in These Areas of Libya
The spokesperson for the Ghat Emergency Room, Hassan Issa, announced that the southern valley near Isin is nearly full, while the path of incoming floods from the heights of the Tassili Mountains is still being monitored.
Issa explained that security and military agencies, alongside rescue teams, are currently heading to the village of Tazirouk in response to a distress call from the area.
He also noted that floods have already reached the Jufari area in Al-Barkat, prompting a precautionary evacuation of families to ensure their safety.
The National Center of Meteorology predicted today, Saturday, that thunderstorm clouds will continue over the southwestern regions, with a good chance of rain, especially in border areas near Chad, Niger, and Algeria (Tibesti Mountains, Al-Qatrun and its south, Ghat, Murzuq, and Ubari).
According to the National Center of Meteorology, the chance of rain today extends to include some areas of Al-Jufra and may be substantial in certain areas, potentially causing local valleys to flow; caution and vigilance are advised.
Several agencies have warned of the potential for a repeat of Storm Daniel’s scenario due to the possibility of thunderstorms in various regions of eastern and southern Libya.
