After Mainz Terminates His Contract Over Support for Palestine, Moroccan “Al Ghazi” Donates Half a Million Euros to Gaza’s Children

Dutch player of Moroccan origin, Anwar El Ghazi, confirmed in an official statement his donation of 500,000 euros to the children of Gaza after winning his legal battle against the German club Mainz, which terminated his contract last November due to his support for Palestine.

Mainz’s decision to terminate El Ghazi’s contract came after he posted statements supporting the Palestinian people on social media.

El Ghazi said on his account on the social media platform “X”: “Today, I received a large financial compensation from Mainz, but I want to clarify that the legal dispute with the club was never about money for me.”

He added, “I want to take this moment to thank Mainz for two things: First, for the large financial compensation, as I will dedicate half a million euros of this amount to fund projects for the children of Gaza, despite their attempts to avoid paying the due amounts.”

He concluded, “They have, through me, helped in attempting to improve the lives of children there. I also want to thank them because their attempts to silence me have only made my voice louder in support of the oppressed and the wronged in Gaza.”

It’s noteworthy that Anwar El Ghazi is currently playing for Cardiff City in England, with whom he signed a contract extending until the summer of next year.
