Austria reaffirmed today, Sunday, its commitment to the “excellent relations” it maintains with the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement published on its (X) platform account following the European Court of Justice’s ruling on the fisheries and agriculture agreements between the European Union and the Kingdom, stated that Vienna supports the joint declaration issued by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, regarding the court’s decision.
The ministry, which emphasized that Austria “will carefully study” the court’s decision, reiterated Austria’s commitment to its excellent bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Morocco.
Following the European Court of Justice’s ruling, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, in a joint statement, renewed the EU’s commitment to further maintaining and enhancing its close relations with Morocco in all fields, in accordance with the principle that “agreements must be honored.”
This joint statement, a rare act underscoring Morocco’s importance, highlights the significant partnership between the European Union and the Kingdom, affirming the “great value” that the EU places on its long-standing strategic partnership with Morocco, which remains broad and deep.
