Bourita from Bali: Indonesia Supports the Territorial Integrity of All African Nations
Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, highlighted on Monday in Bali that the Kingdom of Morocco is ready to share its experience to strengthen partnerships with Indonesia and friendly African countries, within the framework of South-South and trilateral cooperation, according to the high vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Bourita, who represents His Majesty the King at the Indonesia-Africa Forum’s proceedings, during its second edition’s opening, explained that this cooperation can particularly involve the activation of the royal initiative to encourage linkage between the Sahel countries and the Atlantic Ocean, with the aim of connecting them to the external world and enabling them to utilize Morocco’s road, port, and rail networks, as well as the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, which is considered a fundamental lever for creating conditions for shared growth in the Atlantic region.
The minister added that cooperation can involve the field of food security, the development and modernization of African agriculture, especially amid the current global geostrategic dynamics, as well as investment in health and health sovereignty due to their close ties to the economic and social development of African countries.
On this occasion, Bourita noted that the Indonesia-Africa Forum serves as an ideal model for South-South cooperation, capable of contributing to addressing challenges faced by both sides by surpassing traditional cooperation methods and finding new, integrated, innovative approaches.
In this regard, he expressed hope to elevate this forum to a genuine space for coordinating constructive partnerships, by enhancing Indonesian-African investments and establishing bilateral and trilateral cooperation partnerships in promising and vital sectors such as infrastructure, industry, technology, renewable energy, tourism, and artificial intelligence, to drive development and create more job opportunities on the continent.
Bourita also expressed the aspiration to create an economic forum to be held regularly, with private sector participation, and to collaborate on addressing major challenges facing the entire world, particularly those related to water scarcity, which poses a serious threat to progress and economic and social development, as well as the security and stability of nations. He recalled in this context the recent speech by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, emphasizing the necessity of managing water resources with “more effort, vigilance, creative solutions, and governance in management.”
Furthermore, the minister praised the excellent organization of this forum, emphasizing that Morocco’s strong commitment to participating in this event stems from its close friendship with Indonesia, under the patronage of both leaders, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Excellency President Joko Widodo, as well as the importance Morocco places on the security, stability, and progress of the African continent and strengthening South-South cooperation.
Additionally, Bourita affirmed Indonesia’s position as an active power committed to supporting stability, national sovereignty, and the territorial integrity of all African nations, and its dedication to enhancing partnerships with these countries in a win-win framework, adding immense value to this partnership with the aim of achieving development, progress, and prosperity for both sides.
