Desperate Attempt: “Polisario” Members’ Infiltration of TICAD 9 Meeting in Japan Draws International Condemnation

In an incident that provoked widespread denunciation, members affiliated with the separatist “Polisario Front” attempted to infiltrate the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held in the Japanese capital on August 24 and 25, 2024.

The meeting, aimed at enhancing cooperation between Japan and African countries recognized by the United Nations, was disrupted by these elements who infiltrated the meeting using fake identities and Algerian passports, according to information obtained by “elkhabariya newspaper.”

Official invitations issued by the Japanese Foreign Minister were limited to African states recognized by the United Nations, excluding the so-called “Sahrawi Republic” or the “Polisario Front.” Furthermore, Japan, which does not recognize this fictitious entity, did not issue entry visas to its representatives and refused to accept any official documents related to them, according to the same information.

However, the separatists managed to enter Japan and sneak into the meeting hall using Algerian badges, presenting themselves as part of the Algerian delegation. During the meeting, one of them stealthily placed a plaque bearing the name of the fictitious entity on the meeting table, in a failed attempt to deceive attendees into believing the separatist entity’s participation in the conference.

This action, described as thuggish, provoked strong denunciation from the Moroccan delegation and several other participants. In a firm response, the Japanese official chairing the meeting publicly reaffirmed that his country does not recognize the so-called “Sahrawi Republic,” reinforcing Morocco’s position and exposing Algeria’s attempt to lend credibility to its fabricated entity.

This incident comes in the context of a series of major diplomatic victories achieved by Morocco, led by King Mohammed VI, which have confirmed growing international support for the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty.

With Algeria’s increasing isolation and the failure of its separatist project, it has been left with only desperate tricks that will not change reality, as the separatist entity appears to be on its final path to the dustbin of history.
