Former Ministers Enter the Race for Raja Club Presidency

As the deadline for candidacy submissions for the presidency of Raja Club Athletic approaches, prominent names are being discussed in sports circles as potential candidates for this position. Among these names, former ministers stand out, reflecting the challenges facing the club and the importance of the role.

Abdelkrim Benatiq, a former minister in the government of Saad Eddine El Othmani, is one of the most notable potential candidates. Raja sources indicated that Benatiq, who is a club member, will meet with other members today, Monday, to discuss the possibility of his candidacy. It is noted that Benatiq was a member of the former president Anis Mahfoud’s office, giving him prior experience in the club’s management.

Salaheddine Mezouar, a former minister in the Benkirane government, is another name that is strongly mentioned. Mezouar, who previously held the position of vice president of the club, enjoys support from voices within the “Green team” due to his economic and political stature.

Additionally, Moulay Hafid Elalamy is being considered as a potential candidate. Calls for these prominent figures to run are coming amid the financial crisis the club is suffering from, especially after the arrest of its former president Mohamed Boudrika in Germany.

The “Council of Wisemen,” composed of former presidents like Mohamed Aouzal, Ahmed Amour, and Abderrahim Souiri, plays an important role in the discussions regarding the team’s presidency. This council represents the voice of experience and continuity in the club’s management.

It is worth mentioning that the current interim president, Adel Hala, is holding onto his position, which may add an additional competitive dimension to the presidential race.

The general assembly to elect a new president for Raja is scheduled to take place in the middle of this month. This event will be crucial in determining the club’s future and its ability to overcome current challenges, particularly on the financial and administrative fronts.
