“HAYA… Vamos!” Morocco Passes FIFA’s Final Test to Host the World Cup
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced today, Wednesday, that Morocco, Spain, and Portugal have been granted the honor of hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, while Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 tournament.
The hosting rights were confirmed by acclamation during an extraordinary virtual conference held by FIFA, as there were no competitors for the bids awarded the organization rights.
The 2030 World Cup will kick off with three opening matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay as part of celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930. Morocco, Spain, and Portugal will host all other matches of the tournament.
Morocco thus becomes the second African nation to host the World Cup, following South Africa, which organized the tournament in 2010.
