Iran Reveals Missile Type Used by Israel in Attack

Iran disclosed the type of missiles Israel used in strikes on Iranian targets in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In a statement released Saturday evening, the Iranian military indicated that Israel used “standoff missiles,” which are designed to evade enemy fire by operating from a distance, launched through Iraqi airspace.

The statement added that “the warheads used by Israel were significantly lighter to cover the distance to targets hit across three Iranian provinces.” Iranian military radar sites were reportedly damaged, though some are already undergoing repairs.

Israel had launched pre-dawn airstrikes on Iranian military targets in response to a recent barrage of ballistic missiles Iran fired at Israel earlier this month.

This marked the first time the Israeli military publicly targeted Iranian sites.

Iran raised the death toll from the Israeli attack to four, all members of the Iranian air defense force.

The Israeli military stated that its targets included facilities used by Iran to manufacture missiles launched at Israel, as well as surface-to-air missile sites.

There was no immediate indication that Iranian oil or nuclear sites were hit, which would have represented a more severe escalation.
