Liverpool Deepens Manchester City’s Woes, Extending Lead to 11 Points

Liverpool inflicted more pain on visiting Manchester City, the Premier League champions of the past four seasons, and took another step closer to securing their second title in 35 years with a 2-0 victory on Sunday in the 13th round of the English Premier League.

At Anfield, where Liverpool has not lost to City in front of fans since 2003 (they did lose in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic without fans present), the Reds continued their spectacular season under their new Dutch manager, Arne Slot, achieving their seventh consecutive win across domestic and European competitions.

With their 11th league victory, Slot’s men solidified their lead at the top of the standings with 34 points, nine points ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea. Meanwhile, City dropped from second place to fifth, trailing Brighton on goal difference after suffering their fourth defeat of the season.
