Cairo – The Moroccan karate team achieved a remarkable feat at the North African Age Group Championship, which concluded yesterday, Friday, in the Egyptian capital Cairo, by securing 25 diverse medals.
The Royal Moroccan Karate and Associated Styles Federation reported that the national team’s tally consisted of 9 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze medals, in what it described as an “exceptional” performance.
Five countries participated in the championship, which took place on August 17 and 18: Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, and Morocco. Athletes competed in the under-14, boys and girls, youth, and under-21 categories.
The Federation stated that the Moroccan delegation comprised 27 male and female athletes, noting that “nearly all members of the national team ascended the podium.”
The Federation affirmed that this achievement “reflects the dedication and talent of Moroccan athletes,” praising the “commitment, hard work, and fighting spirit” displayed by the players, as well as the “quality of training” provided by the Federation.
Despite the outstanding performance of the Moroccan team, the host Egyptian team, which participated with more than 300 athletes, secured first place in the overall team rankings.
These results are considered a positive indicator of the development of karate in Morocco and a morale boost for Moroccan athletes in preparation for upcoming competitions.
