Morocco to Experience Rain and Snow in the Coming Days

The Moroccan Meteorological Directorate forecasts continued cold weather during the night and early morning hours, with frost expected in the Atlas Mountains, Rif region, and the eastern highlands. Local fog is also likely to form along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, while the rest of the country will experience generally stable weather with clear to partly cloudy skies. However, light rain may occur in areas like Tangier, Loukkos, and the northwest.

Temperature Forecast

Nighttime temperatures are expected to rise slightly but will remain low in mountainous regions, ranging between -3°C and 3°C. Coastal and southern regions will see temperatures between 9°C and 15°C. Daytime temperatures will vary between 13°C and 20°C in the mountains and coastal areas, and 24°C to 28°C in other regions.

Rainfall and Snow Starting Monday Evening

Beginning Monday evening, a low-pressure system from Northern Europe is expected to affect Morocco’s northwestern regions, bringing light rain to Tangier, Loukkos, and Gharb. By Tuesday, this rainfall is expected to extend to the northern plains, the Middle and High Atlas, the Mediterranean coast, and the eastern region.

Wind and Precipitation Midweek

The northern regions will experience moderate to strong winds, while central and southern areas will continue to enjoy calm and clear conditions. On Wednesday and Thursday, the low-pressure system is expected to bring more significant rainfall to the northern Atlantic plains, the High and Middle Atlas, the Mediterranean coast, and the eastern region. Snowfall is anticipated in the high-altitude areas, accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures.

This weather pattern underscores the need for preparedness, particularly in mountainous regions prone to snow and cold conditions, while providing much-needed precipitation for agricultural areas.
