South African Referee Appointed to Officiate Morocco’s Match

The Confederation of African Football’s legal committee has appointed South African referee Abongile Tom to officiate the Moroccan national team’s match against Gabon, scheduled for Friday, November 15, as part of the fifth round of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers. The tournament will be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Tom will be assisted by Emiliano Dos Santos from Angola and Zakhele Thusi Siwela from South Africa. The fourth official for the match, which will take place in Franceville, Gabon, will be Akhona Zennith Makalima, also from South Africa.

In another qualifier, Morocco will face Lesotho in the sixth round at the Honneur Stadium in Oujda on Monday, November 18. The referee team for this match, appointed by the African Football Confederation, will be led by Jean-Jacques Ngambo Ndala from the Democratic Republic of Congo, with assistants Nabina Blaise Seputu and Bongele Ngela, while Jean-Pierre Kabongo will serve as the fourth official.

These appointments come as the Moroccan team makes thorough preparations, with high expectations for a strong performance that reflects the aspirations of Moroccan fans in the qualifiers.
