Spanish Report : Algerian Intelligence Behind Waves of Illegal Migration to Ceuta
A report published by the Spanish newspaper “Atalayar” revealed the dangerous role played by Algerian intelligence in organizing waves of illegal migration towards the occupied city of Ceuta. According to the report, these actions are part of a calculated strategy aimed at destabilizing relations between Morocco and Spain.
The newspaper indicated that Algeria exploits the so-called “harragas” – illegal migrants – as a pressure tool on the Spanish government. This method aims to create tensions at the Moroccan-Spanish border, leading to a mass influx of migrants towards occupied Ceuta.
This Algerian move comes at a sensitive time, as relations between Rabat and Madrid have been noticeably warming, especially in the fields of security and economic cooperation. Through this strategy, Algeria seeks to undermine this rapprochement and weaken the trust between the two countries.
The newspaper points out that these operations also aim to disrupt Spanish security policy, as Madrid finds itself having to deal with increasing numbers of migrants, putting significant pressure on its resources and services. Furthermore, Algeria aims to tarnish Morocco’s image as a reliable partner to Spain in the migration dossier.
The report confirmed that this Algerian strategy is likely to continue in the near future, with Algeria exploiting the issue of illegal migration as a means to achieve broader political and strategic objectives. This was observed after the failed mass attempt to storm occupied Ceuta on September 15th, where new calls appeared on social media for another attempt on the 30th of the same month.
