Results from a survey by the “Sunergia” Foundation reveal a growing awareness among Moroccans about the importance of digitalization in combating administrative corruption. The data showed that 71% of participants believe that digitalization contributes to reducing corruption, especially in public administrations.
Out of the 71%, 55% of Moroccans surveyed think that digitalization significantly reduces corruption, while 16% believe its impact is limited but still positive.
Age and social groups play an important role in varying opinions about digitalization. According to the survey, the age group between 25-34 years is the most convinced of the impact of digitalization at 78%. Urban residents expressed 79% confidence in the role of digitalization in reducing corruption, compared to their rural counterparts.
Conversely, 12% of respondents believe that digitalization will not affect corruption, reflecting the reality that digitalization alone is not sufficient. It requires strong political will, significant investment in improving digital infrastructure, and training administration employees and citizens to effectively use digital systems.
