The UAE announced on Saturday that it mediated a prisoner exchange deal between Russia and Ukraine, which led to the release of 230 prisoners of war.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “The United Arab Emirates announced the success of its mediation efforts between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in completing a new prisoner of war exchange operation that included 230 prisoners, equally divided between both sides.”
Russia announced on Saturday a prisoner exchange deal with Ukraine that included 115 prisoners of war from each side, clarifying that the Russian recruits were captured during the Ukrainian assault on the Kursk border region.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that “at the conclusion of a negotiation process, 115 Russian servicemen detained in the Kursk region were returned from the territory under the control of the Kyiv regime. In return, 115 prisoners of war from the Ukrainian armed forces were handed over.”
