Turkish-Origin French National Arrested at Mohammed V Airport

On Friday, September 6, security personnel at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a 37-year-old French national of Turkish descent, who was subject to an international arrest warrant issued by judicial authorities in France.

The individual was apprehended immediately upon his arrival on a flight from Turkey. A check against the International Criminal Police Organization’s (INTERPOL) database revealed that he was wanted internationally at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris to serve a prison sentence.

The arrested foreign national is suspected of being linked to a criminal network involved in drug trafficking, armed robbery, and the sale of stolen goods, as well as kidnapping accompanied by physical assault and arson committed on French soil.

He is also suspected of driving a vehicle without a driving license and under the influence of drugs, failing to comply with French police, and intentionally colliding with a police officer.

The suspect has been placed under police custody pending his transfer to the competent public prosecutor’s office. The National Central Bureau “INTERPOL Rabat,” part of the General Directorate of National Security, has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in France about the arrest in connection with extradition procedures.

The arrest of the suspect comes within the framework of Moroccan security authorities’ commitment to activating mechanisms for international security cooperation, particularly in tracking and apprehending wanted individuals for transnational crime.
